From Wyle Cop to the Moon
2015
Wood, brass, lens, titanium 3D print
10 x 12 x 15cm (each unit)
This series of artworks is inspired by 19th century Shrewsbury chemist Henry Blunt who built his own telescope to look up into space. His electrotype models of the moon’s surface brought large areas of a very distant landscape within reach.
These 3D prints play with the scale of three Iron Age hill forts from the Shropshire landscape. They explore connections between viewing and being in the landscape, and continue Blunt’s use of contemporary technology to consider how we see.
